THIS PAGE USES PHOTOS OF CEDAR POINT DURING IT'S EARLY YEARS, AND CONNECTS THOSE PLACES TO THE PARK TODAY, AND THE ACTIVITIES IN THE PHOTOS TO THE WAYS IN WHICH WE USE THE SPACE TODAY FOR LEISURE. CEDAR POINT HAS BEEN AN ACTIVE PLACE OF AMUSEMENT SINCE IT OPENED IN 1870, AND WHILE THE PARK TODAY IS VASTLY DIFFERENT FROM THE BEACH ON THE LAKE OF THE EARLY YEARS, THERE ARE MANY CONNECTIONS BETWEEN THOSE EARLY VISITORS AND THE PEOPLE THAT TRAVEL TO SANDUSKY, OHIO TODAY.

Cedar Point just as it was beginning its transformation into the park that is recognizable today. In 1969 the park was completing a century of operation. Many of the landscape features of Cedar Point are already recognizable in 1969, with many more ahead before the second photo taken sometime around 2010.
